WordPress Launch Setup & Checklist
Create a starter website structure, preview WordPress settings and keep a shared launch checklist inside your dashboard.
Set up the basics, then finish the site
Choose Home, About, Services, Contact and Blog pages. New pages start as drafts; existing pages with the same slugs are reused without replacing their content or changing their status.
Create or reuse a WordPress navigation menu and add missing selected pages. Review the site title, tagline and timezone. Optionally configure the published homepage and posts page, disable future comments and pingbacks, or choose post-name permalinks.
Every setup begins with a preview. Review the changes and apply the plan when it matches your project. Activation alone does not change the site.
Install and run your first setup
- Download the ZIP. Open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin in WordPress, upload and activate it.
- Open Tools → Launch Setup & Checklist with an administrator account.
- Choose the pages and settings you need. Keep current permalinks on an established site unless you have planned redirects.
- Select Preview setup, check the proposed changes, then Apply this setup.
- Write the starter-page content, build the layouts and publish the reviewed pages. You can then assign the published Home and Blog pages to their roles.
- Complete the shared checklist, add project-specific checks and save your notes. Export CSV for the handover.
Example: a new service business website
Create the five starter pages as drafts and a Launch Navigation menu. Write the About and Services content and configure the contact workflow. Build the pages in Oxygen using its normal interface.
In Oxygen, add or select the appropriate menu element and choose the WordPress navigation menu. The plugin creates the page and menu structure; the design stays in your builder.
Publish the reviewed pages, then use another preview to assign Home as the homepage and Blog as the posts page. Test the contact form and mobile navigation before checking them off.
A checklist saved with the WordPress site
The plugin includes 24 manual launch checks, up to 50 custom tasks, notes and CSV export. Progress is stored in the site's database and shared between administrators. It is separate from the browser tool's locally saved project.
Requirements and scope
Requires WordPress 6.0+ and PHP 8.0+. No external service, API key or subscription. Setup and checklist actions require administrator capabilities and WordPress request verification.
The plugin does not create finished copy, forms, analytics, legal documents or Oxygen layouts. It does not change indexing, domain URLs, accounts, existing page content or SEO-plugin configuration. Existing drafts remain drafts. Public homepage and menu-location assignments require published pages.
Repeating the setup reuses matching pages and avoids duplicate page links in the same menu. A preview expires after 30 minutes and must be regenerated if relevant pages, menus or settings change.
Restore last settings changes can restore values that still match the last setup. It retains created pages and menu items for review. Keep a normal site backup before broader launch or migration work.
